I’m Tom, a Master’s graduate with a background in both Theatre and English Literature. Unsurprisingly, I have a real passion for words in all their forms - from Shakespeare to Shelley, Wordsworth to Wilde. If it’s poetry or prose, I’m your guy.
I tutor English Literature and English Language, as well as essay-based humanities subjects (such as Philosophy), helping students build strong analysis, confident writing, and exam-ready skills. I’m based in Manchester and work online with students across the UK, supporting them with GCSE and A Level English.

In my classroom, you, the student, are truly in charge, free to guide each session in a way that suits your needs and goals. Whether you’re looking to untangle the Bard’s rich language and verse or dive into the philosophical ideas behind writers like Stevenson, Woolf, and Baldwin, we’ll find an approach that works for you.

Along the way, we’ll build clear understanding of texts, confidence in your writing, and the skills needed for strong exam performance. My aim is not just to help you know what to write, but to understand why - so you can approach essays and exams with clarity and confidence.

My hope is that we don’t just practise close textual analysis and tackle past exam papers, but also enjoy rich conversations and great debates - because that’s where ideas really come to life.

With this is in mind, our first session will often focus on your learning style and what content you would like to cover.
