How We Work

This page outlines how my tutoring sessions work, what you can expect, and how we’ll work together to make the most of our time.

Sessions

All tutoring sessions are delivered online, using video call and shared documents where helpful. This allows lessons to be flexible, accessible, and tailored to each student’s needs.

Sessions are usually one hour, unless otherwise agreed in advance. Each session is planned around the student’s goals - whether that’s building confidence, improving essay skills, preparing for exams, or revisiting challenging content.

Communication

Most communication takes place via email. I aim to respond within 24–48 hours on weekdays.

Parents are very welcome to get in touch with questions or updates, particularly at key points such as exam preparation or resits.

Cancellations

I understand that things come up.

Where possible, I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if a session needs to be cancelled or rescheduled. This helps me manage availability fairly for all students.

Privacy Note

A Final Note

Tutoring is most effective when it’s a collaborative process between student, tutor, and parent.

My role as a tutor is to provide clear guidance, structure, and subject expertise, while creating a calm and supportive space where students can ask questions, make mistakes, and build confidence in their own abilities.

Parents play an important role too - particularly with younger learners - by helping to support routines, encourage consistency, and communicate any changes or concerns that may affect learning. Open, respectful communication helps ensure sessions remain focused, productive, and responsive to each student’s needs.

While progress looks different for every student, the most meaningful improvements often come from steady work over time, combined with encouragement both inside and outside of lessons. By working together, we can help students develop not only stronger academic skills, but also greater confidence and independence as learners.
